New business premium for life insurers grows 18% in August, for non-life insurers gross premium up by 12%
According to the General Insurance Council’s ‘flash figures’ for August, non-life insurers’ collective gross direct premium underwritten grew nearly 12% y-o-y at 24,471.93 crore compared with Rs 21,867.93 crore for the same period a year ago.

NCLT nod to Exide Life HDFC Life merger
The NCLT has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation under Sections 230 to 232 of the Companies Act, 2013, it said. The merger is subject to final approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India.
